Aim

Understanding how adolescents use digital platforms to supplement formal learning in Southeast Asia. 

Insight and Impact

We sought to identify how adolescents use social networking platforms to enhance their learning in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines. We studied top keywords and hashtags on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter and Pantip. 

We then conducted a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data extracted to draw insights around digital learning.

We found that students are increasingly looking to personalize their study materials (e.g. colorful stickers), use private groups to share exam tips, and seek affordable math and science tutoring materials.
